To be the most ethical, efficient and cost effective placement service in existence

Andrew Laven, Founder

The Patagon Search is a small but dedicated group of recruiters. Each recruiter is either a licensed attorney or has a JD degree. We are professional and personalized. We focus only on a handful of positions at any given moment to ensure that your search gets the time and attention it deserves. We work quickly but we don't rush. We sometimes spend months and months on a single search, something our competitors just won't do. We bring a retained search model to contingency recruiting.

Andrew Laven is the Founder of Patagon Search. Andrew launched Patagon in the Spring of 2015 after serving in both recruiting and management roles with Robert Half Legal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College and a JD from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL. Andrew enjoys the challenge of helping clients find that "needle in a haystack" and the intrinsic value of helping a candidate find their dream job (or one that provides a shorter commute, or more money, or whatever their motivating factor might be). In his free time Andrew enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and traveling.

Stacy served as an Assistant State Attorney for Broward County for four and a half years before working in private practice in Palm Beach County. She is licensed to practice in Florida and remains an active member of the Florida Bar. Stacy enjoys the feeling of making a successful match between client and candidate, as she has done for law firms up and down the East Coast. Stacy lives in Boca Raton and enjoys spending time with her family, taking her dog on long walks and rooting on her daughter's softball team.

Our philosophy is that of Mudita.

Muditā (Pāli and Sanskrit: मदिता) means joy. It is especially sympathetic or vicarious joy, the pleasure that comes from delighting in other people's well-being rathmuditaer than begrudging it. The traditional paradigmatic example of this mind-state is the attitude of a parent observing a growing child's accomplishments and successes, but it is not to be confounded with pride as the person feeling mudita must not have any interest or direct income from the accomplishments of the other. If we can be happy when other people are healthy and prosperous, it is called mudita; the opposite word is jealousy or schadenfreude.

We pride ourselves on our ethics, efficiency and cost effectiveness. Our clients can attest to this. They include:

    • Dozens of America's most prominent national (AmLaw Top 200) and regional law firms
    • Solo practitioners
    • Large and midsize domestic and international companies across various economic sectors
    • Private equity firms, Family Offices (SFO)

    What our clients can expect:

    • Patagon Search presenting you with the best available talent in the market based on the salary and desired skills/experience.
    • Our full attention. We aren't too big or too busy to help each of our clients.
    • Patagon Search being more candid and consultative in your search. We won't send you a candidate unless we would potentially hire the person ourselves. No "throwing against the wall and hoping it sticks".
    •  An extreme level of customer service and responsiveness. If there's an issue with our services or candidate, we will resolve it in a manner that leaves you walking away comfortable, satisfied and wanting to work with us again. That's a promise.

    What our services include:

    • Prescreening all candidates
    • Multiple recent supervisory reference checks (upon request)
    • A rigorous criminal background check and education verification
    • Skills testing (upon request)
    • Personality/Compatibility assessments (upon request)
    • Post placement quality control. Meaning, we will periodically check in to monitor things after the candidate has started. If you aren't happy for any reason and would like us to address your feedback with the candidate, we will. We will also be checking in with the candidate and when appropriate, sharing their level of satisfaction with you.

Whether you're actively seeking a new opportunity or "keeping an eye open", Patagon Search can help. We aren't a one-size-fits-all shop and we know that everyone's priorities are different.

Our services are completely free and completely confidential. In fact, one of the most common reasons candidates come to us is to ensure their anonymity. Other reasons include:

    • Consultation and coaching: throughout the entire search process. Meaning:
      • Our relationships with clients allow us to get to know exactly who they are and what they are seeking. Information that we share with you. Think of it as having someone by your side during the interview, asking every question you wish you could really ask. That's part of our job.
        • Ensuring your resume is the best reflection of your experience.
        • Candid constructive feedback after completed interviews.
        • Salary, benefit and CTO/PTO negotiation and consultation based on extensive market knowledge and experience.
    • Time Saver: "looking for a new job is a full-time job" is a well known saying for a reason, because its true. Unfortunately, the job market still isn't what it was in 2005. In today's market, great opportunities tend to take time to find, so let us help.
    • Eliminate the "reply here" blackhole: Our service is person to person. If our client isn't interested in your candidacy, we will usually know why and provide that feedback to you. Again, this can save you time and effort in applying for the wrong roles and enabling you to become more targeted in your search.
    • Resignation Assistance
    • Post placement quality control. Meaning, we will ensure that after you start your new position through Patagon, we will assist in ensuring you are happy with the move. And if you aren't, for any reason, we will do whatever we can to make sure that changes. We will also check in with your employer and communicate any feedback that they have regarding your performance to you.
